I am a big fan of tiramisu. Even if the Italian dessert is a little more substantial, it tastes simply fantastic. The classic is usually made with espresso, ladyfingers, mascarpone, eggs and sometimes even amaretto. Today, we have opted for a wintery, festive version and have conjured up a Christmas tiramisu with mandarins.
Ingredients :
- 1 can (17 oz) mandarin segments (drained weight 480 g / 17 oz)
- 300 grams (10.5 oz) mascarpone cheese
- 250 grams (9 oz) low-fat quark (or Greek yogurt as a substitute)
- 50 grams (1.8 oz) granulated sugar
- 1 packet (10 grams / 0.35 oz) vanilla sugar (or 2 teaspoons vanilla extract)
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- 200 grams (7 oz) heavy cream (double cream)
- 150 milliliters (5 fl oz) orange juice
- 300 grams (10.5 oz) ladyfingers (Savoiardi biscuits)
- Cocoa powder, for dusting
How to prepare Christmas Tiramisu with Mandarins:
- Drain the mandarins and collect the juice.
- Mix the mascarpone with the quark, sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon and enough mandarin juice to create a cream that is not too runny. You need about 50-100 ml.
- Whip the cream until stiff and fold it into the cream.
- Pour the orange juice into a wide bowl and place the ladyfingers in it. Then line the base of a baking dish with them.
- Spread the mandarins over the cookies.
- Spread the cream evenly over the mandarins.
- Chill the tiramisu for at least 1 hour and dust with cocoa powder before serving.
