Homemade sugar-free and Easy Apple Butter. I came across this recipe some time ago and was immediately intrigued. It is a sugar-free apple compote that is quick to make and perfect to use in a thousand different ways. It is great simply to spread on bread or rusks for breakfast, to stuff tarts, cookies or lots of cakes, but also simply to eat by the spoonful right out of the jar! It is called “butter” because it has the same creamy consistency and like butter, it can be used in so many ways, even to naturally sweeten hot drinks such as tea, herbal teas and milk.

Ingredients:

  • 500g (1.1 lbs) apples
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) water
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

How to make Apple Butter:

  1. Peel the apples, clean them and cut them into cubes. Transfer the apples to a saucepan. Add the juice of half a lemon, water and cinnamon. Bring the saucepan to the stove and let the apples cook on a very low flame for about an hour.
  2. Turn them often with a wooden spoon. When cooked, reduce the apples to a puree with the help of an immersion blender.
  3. Transfer the Apple Cinnamon Butter to 2 clean, sterilized jars. Close them and allow them to cool. The Apple Jam will keep in the refrigerator for up to a week. If you proceed with sterilization you can store it for 2-3 months.
  4. See you tomorrow with a new recipe, a hug,

Bon Appétit!
