This Fudgy Hazelnut Brownies are a mouthwatering dessert that is super chocolaty and very easy to make. Moist inside but with the legendary crunchy crust.
The classic dessert at the end of any self-respecting pub meal, often served with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I opted for simplicity, just powdered sugar. But you dare, if you prefer!
If you are in the mood for a chocolate dessert that is truly chocolaty, try this recipe for hazelnut brownies that my friend Manuela passed on to me. They are not as pretty as hers but they are really a treat!!!
A really special texture, a chocolate cake that almost looks like a caprese, but here there are no almonds, you will find only whole hazelnuts that, if you want, you can also not use, the end result will still be outstanding!
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 200 g (7 oz) dark chocolate
- 200 g (1 cup) sugar
- 170 g (¾ cup) butter
- 1 packet vanilla sugar (or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 100 g (¾ cup) all-purpose flour
- 80 g (⅔ cup) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 100 g (3.5 oz) toasted hazelnuts
- Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
How to make Fudgy Hazelnut Brownies:
- In a bain-marie or microwave, melt the dark chocolate with the butter. Then let it all cool (better yet cool), before using.
- In the warm or cold chocolate and butter mass, then add the sugar and vanillin.
- Then incorporate one egg at a time, stirring with a spatula.
- Then also incorporate the bitter cocoa, flour and baking powder.
- Finally, add the toasted whole hazelnuts.
Bake the Hazelnut Brownies :
- Pour the mass of brownies with hazelnuts into a baking pan about 20×20 centimeters on a side (or 22-24 centimeters in diameter), previously lined with baking paper.
- Bake the brownie cake with hazelnuts in a preheated oven at 170°C (340 °F) fan mode for about 30 minutes or, at any rate, until a crispy crust has formed on the surface. Inside, the cake should remain a little moist.
- Unmold the brownie cake and let it cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar, cutting into squares and serving.
- Brownies will keep at room temperature, sealed in a cake container, for up to 6-7 days.
