So, already in the Christmas spirit? We think it’s definitely time to start baking your own cookies. And the ones that should definitely not be missing are the ever-popular vanilla crescents. They are THE classic Christmas cookie and taste so deliciously nutty and melt in the mouth.
Ingredients :
- 250g / 2 cups Plain Flour
- 100g / 1 cup Ground Almonds
- 80g / 2/3 cup Caster Sugar (Granulated Sugar)
- 200g / 14 tbsp Cold Butter
- 1 sachet Vanilla Sugar or 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
For the Coating:
- 100g / 1 cup Icing Sugar (Confectioner’s Sugar)
- 1 sachet Vanilla Sugar
How to make German Vanilla Crescent:
- Knead all the ingredients for the croissants well with the dough hook of a hand mixer or with your hands until a homogeneous dough is formed.
- Divide the dough in half, flatten with your hands and place in the fridge for about half an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) top/bottom heat 160°C (320°F). Then roll the dough halves on a lightly floured work surface into rolls about the thickness of a pencil.
- Cut small pieces four to five centimeters long from the rolls and shape them into crescents. Place the vanilla crescents on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake for about 10 minutes.
- Turn the cooled crescents in powdered sugar and enjoy.
