Homemade Orange-Scented Cake : My Grandmother’s Sweet Recipe

Homemade Orange-Scented Cake : sweet recipe from my grandmother is a quick and easy recipe to make a very good and fragrant orange cake .

The recipe for this cake is very simple to make, made of simple ingredients that we always have at home, great for snack or breakfast.

Ingredients :

  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 160g (¾ cup + 1 tbsp) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Juice of 1 orange (about 60ml or ¼ cup)
  • 90ml (⅓ cup + 1 tbsp) sunflower oil
  • 220g (1¾ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 30g (¼ cup) cornstarch
  • 15g (2 tsp) baking powder

How to make homemade Orange-Scented Cake:

  1. To make this soft and delicious cake, we start by buttering and flouring a cake pan with a diameter of 22-24 centimeters (9-9.5 inch).
  2. In the bowl of a planetary mixer, whisk the whole eggs with the caster sugar, vanilla or vanillin and orange zest until light and fluffy.
  3. Still whipping, drizzle in the seed oil and previously squeezed orange juice.
  4. Continue whipping until all the ingredients are incorporated and finally add the flour, starch and baking powder mixed and sifted together.
  5. Gently stir everything together until the mixture is lump-free and smooth and pour it into the buttered and floured cake pan.
  6. Bake the cake in a static oven preheated to 175°C (350°F) for about 40-45 minutes. (Do a toothpick test)
  7. Once baked and allowed to cool, place the cake on a serving plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  8. At this point your fragrant and fluffy orange cake with yogurt will be ready to enjoy.
  9. To make this cake more mouthwatering, you can add 80g of dark chocolate chips to the dough.
