Today we prepare a very quick treat, the Jam Croissant Cake with Walnuts is prepared in minutes, tomorrow’s breakfast will please the whole family. You can fill the croissants with hazelnut cream if you are a chocolate lover, or with pistachio cream!
Ingredients for Jam Croissant Cake with Walnuts:
- 2 rolls of puff pastry (round)
- 140g (½ cup) strawberry jam (or your preferred jam)
- 30g (¼ cup) walnuts, chopped
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, as needed)
How to make Croissant and Jam Cake with Walnuts:
- Unroll the first roll of puff pastry and spread the jam, leaving a 1-cm border free.
- Scatter in the coarsely chopped walnuts. Cover with the second roll of puff pastry and seal the edge well with the tines of a fork.
- Divide the puff pastry into 8 triangles and form a croissant with each, roll up starting from the base of each triangle.
- Line a 24-cm-diameter pie dish with baking paper and place the 8 croissants inside. Brush with milk and sprinkle with caster sugar.
- Bake in a preheated static oven at 180°C (350 °F) for about 50 minutes, as they are double they take a little while to bake, check that they are well baked underneath. When the croissant cake is cold, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
