They are perfect to put as centerpieces during Christmas lunch or for Christmas Eve dinner, or next to each diner, you can stuff them as you like and you will look great because they are appetizing and one pulls the other.

Puff Pastry Christmas Trees are also beautiful to serve for New Year’s Eve dinner, I stuffed my puff pastry trees with prosciutto cotto and gorgonzola cheese, an appetizer for Christmas parties that I recommend you do not miss, I also leave you the tutorial to prepare them but I assure you they are very simple.

Ingredients :

  • 2 sheets rectangular puff pastry (ready-rolled or thawed frozen)
  • 125g (about 1/2 cup) Gorgonzola or other soft, creamy cheese
  • 100g (about 1/2 cup) prosciutto cotto or deli ham, finely chopped
  • Pitted olives, sliced
  • 1 egg yolk, beaten (for brushing)

How to make Puff Pastry Christmas Trees:

  1. To prepare the placeholder puff pastry saplings first enlarge the first roll of puff pastry on a work surface.
  2. Prick it with the tines of a fork and place the gorgonzola.
  3. Spread it evenly with the back of a spoon.
  4. Add the slices of cooked ham and cover the filling with the other roll of puff pastry.
  5. Seal the edges well and with a knife cut out strips.
  6. Take each strip and fold it alternately, forming the placeholder puff pastry saplings.
  7. Pierce each ham puff pastry tree with a toothpick so that it is secured.
  8. Place an olive on the tip of each placeholder puff pastry tree and transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, placing them well apart.
  9. Brush them with egg yolk and bake them in a static oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Take the placeholder puff pastry trees out of the oven and enjoy them warm or lukewarm.
