Quick Ham and Cheese Dinner Recipe: The kitchen should never lack imagination. Not only that, it often happens that there is leftover food in the fridge, especially from the holidays. It is a shame to waste it, but it should be used before it goes bad. Today we suggest bread rolls with ham and cheese. They are irresistible—crispy on the outside and soft and stringy on the inside.

Ingredients :

  • 8 slices of sandwich bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 30 grams (1/4 cup) of grated Parmigiano Reggiano
  • 150 grams (1 cup) of scamorza, mozzarella, or provolone cheese
  • 150 grams (1 cup) of cooked ham
  • Breadcrumbs, as needed
  • Peanut oil, for frying

How to make Quick Ham and Cheese Dinner Recipe:

  1. In order to prepare these rolls, we start by removing the crust of the loaf, if you bought sandwich bread omit this step. We recommend flattening the bread slices with a rolling pin.
  2. We lay on each slice of bread first the cooked ham and then the cheese, then as soon as it is finished we put the eggs in a dish, beat and add the grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Separately in a plate we put the breadcrumbs, heat plenty of seed oil in a frying pan and then roll the bread rolls and pass them first in the plate with the beaten eggs.
  4. We put in the breadcrumbs and then repeat the operation, fry in the hot oil and let the rolls brown, turn them halfway through cooking. Let’s lay them as we go on a plate with kitchen towel so as to remove excess oil.
  5. Let’s serve immediately and enjoy. If you want to bake them in the oven put them on a drip pan, set the temperature to 200°C  (390°F) for 15 minutes.
