Savory Croissants: Crispy and Multi-Layered

Savory Croissants, a quick and easy appetizer! Puff pastry is always present in my kitchen, and my recipes prove it.These flaky croissants are prepared really quickly and are perfect to serve as an aperitif or appetizer. They’re delicious both hot and cold, and last but not least, you can prepare them and store them in the fridge to bake right before serving. I filled mine with a classic combination, cooked ham and cheese, but you can let your imagination run wild and create new pairings.

Ingredients :

  • 2 sheets puff pastry (store-bought, thawed if frozen)
  • 150g (about 1 cup) cooked ham, thinly sliced
  • 120g (about 1 cup) cheese (Cheddar, Gruyère, or Swiss), shredded
  • 150g (⅔ cup) cream cheese, softened

How to make Savory Croissants:

  1. As a first step, unroll the round puff pastry on a surface and spread the cream cheese, after which add the cooked ham and cheese.
  2. Take a second puff pastry disk and cover the filling by overlapping and sealing the outer edges well.
  3. With a smooth-bladed knife, divide the disk into 8 triangles of the same size,
  4. then roll each triangle on itself, making the shape of the classic croissant
  5. Lay the croissants well apart on a drip pan, covered with baking paper, brush with egg white and decorate with mixed seeds.
  6. Bake and serve hot and stringy!

Bon Appétit!
