Water Orange Cake: A Diet-Friendly Delight

Water Orange Cake is an explosion of fragrance and flavor, made special by the fresh juice and candied orange pieces that add a zesty note. A cake that conquers with its simplicity and lightness, perfect for those who want something greedy but without sacrificing their figure.

Ingredients :

  • 600g (4 3/4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • 300ml (1 1/4 cups) freshly squeezed orange juice, strained
  • 300ml (1 1/4 cups) water
  • 180ml (3/4 cup) sunflower oil
  • 150g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • 16g (1 tablespoon) baking powder
  • 80g (1/2 cup) candied orange peel, diced

How to make Water Orange Cake:

  1. Start by squeezing the oranges to obtain 300 ml of filtered juice, removing any seeds.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the juice with the water and sunflower oil. In another bowl, sift the flour together with the baking powder, then add the sugar.
  3. Pour the liquid ingredients (juice, water, and oil) little by little into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix with a hand whisk or spatula until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
  4. Finally gently incorporate the candied orange pieces into the dough, distributing them evenly.Now grease and lightly flour a 26-cm mold, or line it with baking paper. Pour the dough into the mold, leveling it with a spatula.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (355°F) degrees in fan mode and bake the cake, letting it bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Check the baking with a toothpick and if it comes out dry, the cake is ready.
  6. Once baked, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool in the mold for 10 minutes and then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. With its delicate flavor and orange scent, this cake is perfect as is, but you can enhance it with a light dusting of powdered sugar, you will see it is light and irresistible.
