- 180ml (3/4 cup) sunflower oil
- 150g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar
- 16g (1 tablespoon) baking powder
- 80g (1/2 cup) candied orange peel, diced
How to make Water Orange Cake:
- Start by squeezing the oranges to obtain 300 ml of filtered juice, removing any seeds.
- In a large bowl, mix the juice with the water and sunflower oil. In another bowl, sift the flour together with the baking powder, then add the sugar.
- Pour the liquid ingredients (juice, water, and oil) little by little into the bowl with the dry ingredients. Mix with a hand whisk or spatula until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.
- Finally gently incorporate the candied orange pieces into the dough, distributing them evenly. Now grease and lightly flour a 26-cm mold, or line it with baking paper. Pour the dough into the mold, leveling it with a spatula.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (355°F) degrees in fan mode and bake the cake, letting it bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Check the baking with a toothpick and if it comes out dry, the cake is ready.
- Once baked, take the cake out of the oven and let it cool in the mold for 10 minutes and then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- With its delicate flavor and orange scent, this cake is perfect as is, but you can enhance it with a light dusting of powdered sugar, you will see it is light and irresistible.
Enjoy!
