Stuffed Dates: Perfect for the Holiday Season

Stuffed dates are a delicious appetizer with a special flavor, perfect for the holiday season.

Dates are one of the undisputed symbols of the holidays, and they are usually served with dried fruit at the end of a meal. The following recipe, on the other hand, with its unique flavor, sees them combined with spices, walnuts and ricotta cheese (or alternatively, gorgonzola or another flavorful soft cheese such as robiola) to create tasty appetizers to accompany aperitifs or to be included among the hors d’oeuvres in just a few minutes.

Ingredients :

  • 200 g / 7 oz dates (approximately 20 dates)
  • 100 g / 3.5 oz ricotta cheese
  • 20 g / 0.7 oz honey (about 1 tablespoon)
  • Walnut halves, for garnish
  • Ground cinnamon, to taste

How to make Stuffed Dates:

  1. Make a cut from tip to tip in each date and remove the pits.
  2. In a bowl, cream the ricotta cheese with the honey and a pinch of cinnamon.
  3. Transfer the resulting mixture to a pastry bag with a star-shaped nozzle and fill the dates.
Top with a walnut kernel, sinking it lightly into the cream, and let rest in the refrigerator for an hour before serving your stuffed dates.
